Umkumbe Safari Lodge
Located in one of the premier private wildlife reserves in South Africa, Umkumbe Safari Lodge delivers a truly authentic South African safari experience. The lodge, situated in Mpumalanga along the banks of the Sand River in the Sabi Sands Reserve, is owner managed ensuring personal care and warm African hospitality.
Umkumbe is renowned for its incredible Big Five game viewing. Guests can experience the high-volume wildlife on a morning, afternoon, or night drive when they will catch a glimpse of cheetah, wild dog, hippos, and hundreds of other wildlife species, extensive birdlife and indigenous flora. The game drives are led by the lodge’s knowledgeable guides and promise up-close encounters with the wildlife.
The lodge has seven gorgeous, rustic chalets, many of which overlook the Sand River. The lodge also offers air-conditioning, a gym, a pool, outdoor showers, a traditional boma, and al fresco dining. Delicious South African fare is served under the stars, culminating in an affordable, yet unforgettable experience.
Umkumbe is accessible via a six hour self-drive from Johannesburg on tarred roads, or by flying into the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit. From here, road transfers from the airport can be arranged to Umkumbe.

Rates include: all meals, game walks & drives, tea and coffee, and tourism levy.
Rates exclude: drinks, R 50 Sabi Sand Conservation levy payable direct at Shaws Gate, R 190 per vehicle is payable direct at Shaws Gate if self-driving, all items of a personal nature, any item not described above.
Children under 12 pay 50% of the adult rate.
